What is Qigong (Chi Kung)?


Qigong (Chi Kung)  is the art and science of using breath, posture, movement, and/or sound to cleanse, refine, accumulate and circulate Qi in the body. These simple yet powerful exercises can help prevent illness and improve overall health and well-being.


Through the cultivation and regulation of the body, mind, and breathing, our immune system is strengthened creating a state of health, vitality, and youthfulness. In addition, our ability to adapt to our external environment is improved.


Why learn Qigong (Chi Kung)?


Best for people who are looking for a low-intensity fitness training and are interested in reducing stress, preventing illness, increasing vitality, and enhancing overall health.


A variety of sets and systems are taught including:


Medical Qigong For Health which are a variety of techniques including relaxation and qi permeating methods. This system allows practitioners to maintain, heal, and rejuvenate the functions of the organs such as the kidneys, liver, lungs, spleen, and heart. Some traditional Qigong methods for healing specific illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma, as well as other conditions are also offered.


Yi Jin Jing (Tendon Changing Classic):  A health building exercise dating back to ancient China to strengthen the muscles and tendons.

Notes:


For both Buddhist and Daoist Qigong, we are not referring to religions, but to the philosophy that many follow as part of their culture and way of life.


For people with serious health issues, please consult with instructor before participating in class.

Buddhist Qigong:  A variety of practices from the Buddhist tradition including Incense Qigong for cleansing the body, Nine Esoteric Seals, Long Life, and others.


Daoist (Taoist) Qigong:  For longevity training and the higher spiritual purposes of the practice.
